On Yelagin island by the local mini zoo there’s a path with the wooden sculptures of the animals living in Leningrad area forests. Yelagin island used to be called Lisii nos (Fox nose) because of the similarity to that on the maps. The legend says that at the beginning of 18th century it was called Bear island. Some soldiers were walking around the island and met there a big angry bear which made them run away from there.

How to reach: 10 min from Krestovsky Ostrov metro station.
