In 1825–1828 there appeared a pavilion Chapel in shape of the gothic chapel, destroyed due to the time passed. The construction of the Chapel by A. Menelas’s project has started on the place of the disassembled Southern Zoo Bastion at the time of Alexander’s rule. Menelas was using the part of the walls of Elizabeth’s Entertainment Pavilion (Lustgauz). The chapel is made of two square towers, one of which has completely “fallen apart”, and a connecting them wide arch. The walls are cut with the ogee portals-entrances below, and the big ogee windows above. According to the architect’s idea as another reference to the old gothic style there were multicoloured stained-glass panels put in the window of the Chapel. The light coming through the panels depicting the biblical plots, was sparkling in the interior with the angels sculptures at the arches bases. The sculptures, as well as the sculptures of the White Tower, are made by V. Demut-Malinovsky.
Address: Pushkin, Alexandrovsky Park (Alexander.
