Here, on the Duderhof heights, “Aurora” defended its city in 1941, and obtained the right to be honored.
There was the cannon battery, taken from the cruiser, on the barrier from Voronya mount to Kiev high way. Nowadays here’s a not very popular memorial complex: 9 symbolic cannons, the real frame assembly of the cannon №1, the names of the dead and the short story of the events happened. The sign on the monument says, “The fallen were able to win, the alive are ought to remember”.
There’s another sign, "Here in this artillery yard on September, 11 in 1941 the fascists tied to the cannon, soaked with petrol and burned alive six badly wounded, but not conquered sailors from “Aurora”. In my opinion, without knowing about these events our political and incriminating talks around “Aurora” all become the level of a silly joke. The people fighting here really cared of the name of their ship, and they’ve assured the right to be honored for themselves and for their Cruiser.

How to reach: by the local train from St.Petersburg to Mozhaysky village, or by car (along Tallin high way passing Krasnoye Selo), then on foot.

Не могу молчать, (14.05.2011 at 18:52) 4— Валерий,очень содержательный рассказ и показ..."В этом артиллерийском дворике 11 сентября 1941 года шестерых тяжело раненых, но непокоренных моряков-авроровцев фашисты привязали проволокой к орудию, облили бензином и сожгли заживо,"- этот факт читаю в первый раз. Еще раз спасибо за страницу истории, которую Вы открыли для меня, думаю, и для многих здесь... А "Авроре" кланяюсь не уставая, теперь и за это мужественное событие экипажа...

— ... маленькое дополнение:
если от этого мемориала смотреть в сторону поселка Мурилово, примерно в 1500 м виднеется памятник, где стояло ещё одно орудие с Авроры...
... думаю надо их объединить, а сюда добавить соответствующие фото ...
