As I have seen the ‘Bridges’ section I remembered this memorable sign, which you could see by ‘Navy Strelna’ museum. As it is known, Peter I didn’t like bridges, because he wanted the citizens to get used to move on water. The first bridge was built over Port channel in Strelna when Primorskaya (Peterhof) road was constructed in 1815. In October 1941 this bridge was destroyed by the Sea landing party. During its renovation in 2005 there were found first bridge 14 beds of 1,5-2 metres piles, that perfectly preserved in blue clay. And on the initiative of O.Varenik there was put a memorable sign in shape of a spiral column (by artist A.Novikov). Unfortunately, the sign is lost by now.
Address: 25а Pristanskaya st., Strelna.
How to reach: Bus or a local train going to Strelna.
